Boots and Glove were a pair of characters I created in my early teens. I wrote text stories and drew spot illustrations for many years, refining the characters, designs and art. This is one of my later attempts (and an experiment in adding tone with diluted india ink) which utilised figures I had drawn and retraced a number of times. Overworking the forms contributed to the static layout and wooden figures.
This six page Boots and Glove story was the first complete comic strip I ever drew (and wrote)-- I prepared it as a sample to show when I first attempted to get professional work in British comics.I drew the art on A4 cartridge paper with Rotring pens and felt tips.
